Year 2

Happy New Year Year 2! We are super excited for an enjoyable term building our knowledge across the different topics. We hope this page will give you much of the useful information required, however, please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. 



Term 3 – ‘Go with the Flow’ 


This term we are learning about animals and their food chains as well as identifying the names of different animals and their offspring. In Geography, we will investigate different compass points and learn how to use them within map reading, alongside identifying the oceans surrounding the different continents of the world. We will be introducing relationships in PSHE, understanding the changes of the human body from young to old and beginning to identify different parts of a girls and boys body.  


In English will be reading a book called ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ and producing some creative writing from it inclusive of a persuasive letter about why the crayons should be listened to, poetry about a particular crayon, a newspaper article discussing facts about the crayons, invitations to the crayon party and a recount of the events from the party. 

In Maths, we will be exploring money and the quantity for each coin or note and how totals can be made using a number of different coins. During the term the learning will move on to fractions and children will further recognise halves, quarters and the relationships between them – equivalent fractions. Before we break up for half term, the children will further learn the accuracy of measuring  length; to further continue in Term 4.
