Year 5/6 Girls FA Cup Round 2 Fixture

Our year 5/6 Ladies squad played in their first FA Cup fixture of the season, playing against familiar opponents in one of our Trust Schools, Temple Hill. The Fleet had a strong squad selected for this game and included one of our Year 4’s, Grace, who had made the step up to the team.

In a dominant first half display from the ladies, they took an early lead through Ana with a superb passing movement, starting from Evie at the work and working the ball through the team. Ana then popped up for a second time scoring a brilliant solo effort, running from the half way line to slot it past the Temple Hill goalkeeper. A deflected shot from distance saw Fleetdown get their third and another solo effort from Ana made it 4 and her first hat trick for the school. An excellent finish from Diana and a second own goal saw the Fleet take in a very comfortable 6-0 lead at half time.

After the break, Temple Hill came out stronger and made it more difficult for our ladies. Some excellent defending from Amanda and Holly saw our goalkeeper Zara untroubled and some solid passing by Chloe lead to The Fleet’s seventh. Grace turned on the half way line and only a few feet into the Temple Hill half, Grace unleashed a ferocious half volley placing the ball into the top corner. A brilliant goal, enjoyed by all. Ana finished the scoring with her fourth of the game, now equalling the top goal scorers for both the boys and girls teams.

Thank you to Temple Hill for an exciting game and A HUGE congratulations to: Zara, Evie, Chloe, Amanda, Holly (captain), Diana, Grace and Ana.

Come and support the ladies in their next game, on Wednesday 22nd March against Dartford Bridge at home. We kick off at 3:30 on the lower field.

Year 3 and 4 Dartford Hub Netball Competition

Year 3 and 4 Dartford Hub Netball Competition

This week our Year 4’s had the opportunity to represent the ‘Fleet in the Dartford Hub Netball Competition. It was the first time for some of our children to play netball and boy they didn’t disappoint. Their team play was impeccable, their communication was inspiring and their respect for the opponents was fantastic. Lead by Taylan, the children showed incredible sportsmanship by congratulating their opponents throughout the games and supporting them after their matches.
It was a blisteringly cold afternoon, but the children began the afternoon, pitting themselves against Oakfield. In the first half, Fleetdown could have scored many, but the ball wouldn’t go into the net. They regrouped and with a few changes, Jenson come on to score the first and only point in the match. A wonderfully constructed point, with excellent passing, movement and communication, finished off with a shot from distance.

In our second game, against a strong West Hill team, with some excellent defending and a brilliant counter attack, once again finished off by Jenson the ‘Fleet took the victory. West Hill challenged all the way, but just couldn’t finish in the final third of the court.

A superb display from the Fleetdown team, leading to two solid victories, without conceding a single point meant that they were crowned the Dartford Hub champions. They will now host the Golden Thread Alliance finals, welcoming Meopham Primary Academy to Lunedale Road.

A HUGE well done 👏 to Pelumi, Taylan, Patwin, Pearly, Grace, Reegan, Jenson, Shawn and Louis.

Year 5 and 6 Dartford Hub Netball Competition

Year 5 and 6 Dartford Hub Netball Competition

Our  very talented Year 5 and 6 netball team took part in the Dartford Hub, formally the Galaxy Trust’s netball tournament, being hosted at Fleetdown. We played our first match against Oakfield, beating them by a score line of 3-1. It was a very disciplined, although nervous match for all. Inumidun scoring all three points in this game.
Next up was the very experienced West Hill, a team who have played together for a year already. Unfortunately, the Fleet lost 2-1, a very good score line given the difficult opponents we were facing. Inumidun, again, scoring the Fleet’s solitary point.
Our final game was against Temple Hill, in slightly gloomy conditions. Fleetdown came out fighting and scored on their first attack. This set the tone for the match. Fleetdown came out fighting and continued scoring, ending up winning the game, 4-0. Inumidun, once again proving difficult to stop, scoring all four points.

A fantastic display and show of sportsmanship all around. Although winning two games, West Hill just pipped us to the number one spot by one point. A well deserved victory for them. They will now go on to represent the Dartford Hub against Riverview Juniors of the Gravseham Hub.

A HUGE well done 👏 to Inumidun, Amanda, Ruth, Tomisin, Rebekah, Finley and Diya.

Football Fixture, FA Cup 2nd Round Vs Westgate Primary School

We arrived at Westgate Primary, with a slightly changed squad for our FA Cup second round match feeling a little nervous, but full of energy.

With Mr Brooker refereeing, due to Westgate not having a referee, captain Jacob, led the team superbly on the pitch during the first half. The boys started well, going 2-0 up within 7 minutes. However, s resilient Westgate held us at bay until half time. With Calum, Shay and Jacob all coming close and Jacob having a goal disallowed.

Lewis and Jacob led the half time team talk and gave the boys a moral boost, with the ‘Fleet running out into the second half scoring 6 more goals. George, didn’t have much to do, but cleared his lines well when called to do so.

The moment of the match came from Kyle, with his ‘almost half way line’ goal scored in the first half. Brodie scoring four goals and Lewis playing superbly in defence meant a joint man of the match performance.

well done boys, we’re through to round 3.
