Year 2

 

Here is a list of homework for the first term. Children’s homework will be handed out every Friday and due in the following Wednesday. The weekly spelling test will also take place each Friday. Multiplication tests will take place each Thursday. If homework is not handed in on time it may not be marked. If you are unsure of what to do for a piece of homework please make sure you speak to a member of the Year 2 team before it is due in.

 

Friday 9th September 2016

 

1) This week we learnt about 1 more and less and 10 more and less a number. Please complete these questions.

2) We would like the children to write about their first week at school. They might want to write a story, a diary entry or a letter. This can include drawings and a description of what they enjoyed the most about their new class.

1) This week we learnt about Target numbers. Please can you find as many different ways to find these target numbers. You can challenge yourself and use all four operations too! (+, - , x, ÷)

2) This term’s Topic is Ancient Egypt. We would like the children to research facts about Ancient Egypt. At the end of the homework children will need to collate their research in a way of their choice. They might decide to make a poster, Egyptian mask, pyramid, fact file or mini-book. The children have 2 weeks to complete this task.

1) This week we have learnt about money.  Could you please take photos / draw pictures of 5 items with price tags and write some number sentences about them using coins. eg: 2p + 1p = 3p

 

 

 

 

 

2)This is your last week to research the Ancient Egyptians. At the end of the homework children will need to collate their research in a way of their choice. They might decide to make a poster, Egyptian mask, pyramid, fact file or mini-book.

 

These will be used for our year group display

1) This week we learnt about measuring. We would like the children to find 5 objects and measure them. The children can draw/photograph these objects and write their measurements.

 

2) This term in science we are learning about Living Things and their Habitats. Can you please go on a minibeast hunt and write down any insects you have found and where they live. Please feel free to draw or photograph the insects you find!

Friday 7th October 2016

 

1) This week we learnt about adding.  Can you write at least 5 addition sentences and show your working out using jottings. Can you challenge yourself and use bigger numbers?

 

 

2) This term in Religious Education we are learning about Judaism. This week we learnt about Moses receiving the TEN COMMANDMENTS. We would like the children to write their own commandments that they would enforce if they were in charge.

Friday 14th October 2016

 

1) This week we learnt about fractions. We would like the children to draw different shapes and shade in ½ and ¼ of each shape. Shapes they can easily draw are circles, squares and rectangles.

 

2) This term in Computing we have been learning how to stay safe using the internet. We would like the children to create a poster to help others stay safe online. The best posters will be displayed in the classroom to help others stay safe.
