Safeguarding

At Fleetdown Primary School we are fully committed to our statutory duty to safeguard all pupils. Safeguarding is a wide ranging and overarching policy of our school which includes Child Protection, Health and Safety, e-Safety and Anti-bullying policy. A full copy of the policy is available below.

Our Designated Safeguarding Leaders (DSLs) are:

  • Mr Catchpole (Deputy Head/Senior DSL)

  • Mrs Burton (Deputy Head/Senior DSL)

  • Miss Sadler (Headteacher/DSL)

  • Miss Richardson (Senior Assistant Head/DSL)

  • Mrs Bailey (SENCO/DSL)

  • Miss Preston (DSL)

All staff at Fleetdown Primary School have undertaken the PREVENT online training and Mrs Burton (Deputy Head) has a register of certificates obtained.

Mrs Terri Cox (Governor) is our Link Governor for Safeguarding and visits the school on a termly basis to review our policy and procedures with Mr Catchpole and Mrs Burton.

If at any time you should have any concerns around safeguarding matters please contact any of the staff above.

NSPCC’s PANTS rules
In our assemblies during the year and in classes we will discuss the NSPCC’s PANTS rules. This is designed to teach pupils how to stay safe from sexual abuse and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), without giving explicit information or telling scary stories or even using the term “sexual abuse”. In the assemblies and lessons children will learn about the ‘PANTS’ acrostic, which stands for:
  • Privates are private
  • Always remember your body belongs to you
  • No means no
  • Talk about secrets that upset you
  • Speak up, someone can help

The assemblies are fully age-appropriate. More information about talking PANTS, including a short film and a parent and foster/adopted parent guide can be found at nspcc.org.uk/pants
